Strapped In Sessions!

London Barber Shop Strap and Scraper

Those that know about our London barbershop’s #StrappedInSessions will know what went down last month. Every so often we host a Strapped In Session which involves filmed discussions with some of our interesting clients or acoustic live singing and more.

Last month we had the super talented bands The Aim and The Theme come down and play a live set for us. If you have heard any of these guys before,  you’ll know that they fit in with our aesthetics perfectly. As soon as we heard them both, we added them to our ever growing London barber shop Spotify playlist which now features over 1000 songs. If it’s a bit of Brit Pop and a little bit of Punk you like, then you definitely need to invest some time listening to these two bands who have both released new albums this year…

The Aim

We absolutely love the Aim and one of our favourite tracks off the new album has to be Friday Night. Give it a listen! Here they are doing their thing in our barbershop.

The Theme

So what made our Strapped in Session even more special is not only the fact at both of these two bands came down to play, it’s that The Theme were releasing their album on the date of their gig in our London barber shop. This meant that they were playing exclusive tracks from their brand new Unplugged album. One of our personal favourite songs from this album is “Twisted Little Soul.” If you give at least one song a listen from this album, make sure it’s that one. We like it so much we have decided to put the Youtube video of it here on our post to make your life that much easier.

How good was that?! Now here is a little snippet of it live in our London barber shop.

All in all, it was an amazing event. Here are some shots courtesy of photographer for the night Red snapper Pics. Check them out and make sure you come down to our next #StrappedInSession. Follow us on Instagram to find out when the next one will be @strap.and.scraper.london.

Inside Strap and Scraper London

What’s new at Strap and Scraper London Barbershop

Since we opened our barbershop doors on Cheshire street (Just off Brick Lane) just under one year ago, we have built up our brand priding ourselves on our quality of work. Our ethos has always been a simple one listen to clients and work with them to achieve a better result rather then the get what your given approach. Consultations have been the foundation in helping us achieve our fantastic reputation and is something we always make sure we get right. Our last addition to the Scrap Book was a while back and during that time we have found a lot more of a our favourites:

(In no particular order)

Coffee spots

Hair cuts

Beards

Boozers.

Where Else?

If you read our Shoreditch Hotspots post you would have seen some of our favourite places within close proximity of our barbershop. However we have cut a little more, styled a little more and explored a little more since then. It is safe to say we have found some new East London gems. We have added Holy Shot to our selection of coffee shops. Located on Bethnal Green Road it does fantastic coffee with plenty of options and the pastries are pretty damn good too.

We have had a huge variation of cuts and beards to style and shape. If you follow our Instagram you’ll know all about that. We have been getting a lot of textured short cropped cuts as of late and we are loving it.

As far as boozers go. We spend some of our time in our local, The Carpenters Arms. We did attend the Craft Beer Rising festival which took place at the Truman Brewery from the 22nd-24th of February.  A great event with craft beer from all over the U.K. and amazing street food to keep the party going.

As you can see we have had some busy months. Our Youtube channel kicks off this month and our Academy courses begin in April so it’s only going to get busier. Stay tuned to hear more about our updates.

Sincerely, your local Shoreditch barbers.

Cuts

It has been a hectic 3 months since we opened our Brick Lane Barbershop doors. A vast array of haircuts coming our way and we couldn’t be happier.  We thought we would talk about a few of our most popular cuts and styles over the summer.

The male grooming industry has massively boomed over the years. It does not look like it’s going away anytime soon and we are not complaining! In fact we are proud to be apart of the trend. Being located in Shoreditch just off Brick Lane we get an excellent crop of people from all over the world coming through our doors. We’ve had clients from Santiago Chile, Buenos Aires Argentina, Pitsburgh America, Sydney Australia and many more.

So what has been our most popular cuts over the summer months? Well in our Brick Lane Barbershop we’ve had 2! Both at complete different ends of the spectrum (which is why we love being based in Shoreditch)

The skin fade and the all over scissor cut have been our most in demand.

Styling

Here at Strap and Scraper London barbershop we have already created a catalogue of styles. From flat tops to pompadours, side partings to centre partings, short textured crops  and plenty more.. Furthermore, we use Hairbond to style our finished masterpieces. This is because the range covers all hair types and textures. They have a great hold, wash out super easy and the cherry on top, they smell damn good!

Aftermath

Whether it’s straight home to catch up with Game of Thrones or  down to Brick Lane to find some hidden gems we are loving our blend of new clients and existing ones.  From the Strap and Scraper London team we say thanks for getting #StrappedIn and we look forward to both new and regular faces coming through our doors.

Our Shoreditch Hot Spots

Time on your hands after your hair cut?

A common question we receive here at our Shoreditch barbershop, Strap and Scraper London, is

where is a good place to go after my trim?

As good as it is in our fine establishment, you need somewhere to show off your great haircut once it’s complete, right?

Where To Go in Shoreditch?

So here’s our small list of eatteries, coffee shops, public houses and anything else thats a good hang out spot in Brick Lane and Shoreditch.

Coffee shops

Lets start with our coffee shops as we have previously brushed up on this before.  We said that Square Mile and All Press are to coffee, what we are to barbering……..DAMN GOOD.  You have Bell Boi right by Brick Lane and the Ace Hotel smack bang in the middle of Shoreditch selling this fine espresso coffee. Be sure to check them out!

Our newest addition to the coffee gang though is Cross Town. They are located on Brick Lane and it isn’t just the coffee we are big fans of, it’s the doughnuts too! Just wait until you see the flavours.

Pubs

A couple Pubs/Bars we find ourselves in after a fine day of sprucing up Shoreditch with London’s finest cuts are Big Chill, not much of a hidden gem. It’s likely that anyone who’s been to Shoreditch knows about this place BUT it’s never too mobbed during the week and we like the beverages and the odd game of table football. We also regularly head into the Carpenters Arms which can be found on our very own Cheshire Street. This fine little boozer does it all. Great beers, great food and even a roast on Sundays.

Food

Our pick of the bunch for food has to begin with our tasty vegan treats down in Boxpark Shoreditch. Vegan doner kebabs and vegan Turkish pizzas by What The Pitta is a lunch time favourite. A meal and a drink at Smoke Stak always goes down well, located close to Brick Lane, we highly recommend this one!

Hang Out

We occasionally like to step into the Magic Roundabout in Old Street station. A great hang out spot and place to bring friends. If you don’t already know then get yourself and some pals down there.  Lastly, we have Strap and Scraper London barbershop of course! I mean a hair cut, a shave, a beard sculpt, a coffee, a beer and some damn good conversations and tunes. We got it all 😉 Plus, you just won’t have the same enjoyable experience visiting these places if you don’t start your venture without a stroll through our barbershop doors.

If you try out any of our recommendations please let us know next time you are in or feel free to drop us a line!

Who Are We?

Welcome to Strap and Scraper London barbershop.

A Victorian themed London barbershop and vintage male grooming hub in the heart of Shoreditch/Brick Lane. We have been open just under 2 months now and familiarised ourselves with the street and area. We couldn’t be happier! The diverse streets of Shoreditch have given us a wide range of haircuts and beards coming through the door.

So who are we?

We are a traditional London barbershop offering haircuts, beard grooming, cut throat razor shaves and skin treatments. When you walk through our doors you will receive the Strap and Scraper London treatment. Great tunes from our playlist, coffees and beers and the finest cuts in London all blend together for a damn good time and allow you to escape from the bustling environment the city can dish out.

Get to know!

Our playlist is just as diverse as the cuts coming through the door. Ranging from old age soul and Motown to a bit of Indie. We are HUGE fans of up and coming acts especially if they are from the U.K. We are always up for exploring new music for our playlist so any recommendations do let us know! A couple of new artists we like that are already on our playlist: Tom Grennan especially his tune Sweet Hallelujah, Jelani Blackman and his track Submarine. We have plenty more but those are the pick for this month.

We are also big on our coffee at Strap and Scraper London. Located in Shoreditch where you are spoilt for choice for cool coffee shops, you end up becoming some what of a coffee connoisseur. Here are a couple of espresso brands we like to drink when venturing on our lunch breaks or days off up town: All Press Coffee is a favourite and lucky for us there are a couple of neighbouring shops on Brick Lane roasting up these bad boys. We also love sipping a cup of Square Mile Coffee, Again this fine tasting espresso is not too far from us and in and around the Shoreditch area.

Check us out!
